Key to defeating radical Islam

Reader comment on item: Calling Islamism the Enemy

Submitted by Antoine Alberto (United States), Aug 27, 2012 at 20:12

I am in total agreement with your view on the threat of radical Islam on any civilization, much more so on the west. I do believe in the merit of the strategy president Bush has formulated to face that evil namely, to take the battle to the enemy. Two extremely important if not crucial states to win in that struggle are Turkey and Saudi Arabia. No military battle can achieve the desired results in defeating radical Islam more than converting the political systems in these 2 states.

By conversion I mean to have Turkey and Saudi Arabia adopt the political norms and standards practiced in the west. That is, individual freedom, at all levels , including religious freedom, human rights and democracy. So long as Islam remains the official religion of Turkey and Saudi Arabia, With its norms and values as a template for social and political legislation, radical Islam will continue to replicate itself indefinitely.
