Post mullah pro American exuberance will have a short shelflife much like Iraqi/Afghan gratitude for liberation from tyranny

Reader comment on item: Iranians ♥ America, But ...

While it is heartening that Iranians are very pro American and some even pro Israeli, confirming my anecdotal evidence I have gathered from expatriate Iranians in Dubai and elsewhere,we mustnt get too giddy.

To be sure, many of these Iranians are not just hostile to mullahs but also to Islam, they may ditch Islam in droves which would have a severely demoralizing effect across the Muslim world particularly in Shiite Iraq,Pakistan ,Afghanistan,India and other stans( despite their sectarian and political differences ,deeply admire Persian Muslim culture and power).

However! We cannot assume that Iranians like the East Europeans who were liberated from tyranny will be staunchly pro American. The better comparison would be with Mother Russia. While ordinary Russians were relieved that the communist regime had fallen and indeed many did celebrate the demise of the Evil Empire, they quickly soured on their loss of power ,prestige, the explosion of decadence, the alarming rate of prostitution ,poverty, mafia and capital flight facilitated by the latter.

Iranians ,Muslim or Zoroastrian , are nostalgic about the Persian empire.Of course they are currently resentful that Iranian cash and other resources go to Hezbollah and other entities to project Iranian power , after collapse of the mullahs there is no reason why they would want to relinquish power and Iranian pride in its "Western lung" and other possessions! Neither are too thrilled ala Russians with the wholesale prostitution of their women and rampant drug use.

Unfortunately there are few signs that either party in U.S or Israel have learnt from history ..ok lets not get be too demanding...are they even capable of grasping basic human nature that no people take too kindly to the loss of power and influence?....Sadly the answer is no!

The only solution Im afraid is for the Persian people to take one for the team and institute a controlled implosion of Iran into Kurdish,Baluch,Arab, the core Fars(less than 50% of Irans population) and other territories.
