Frederico you astound me with your absolute lack of analytical ability and incoherence - typical of the left whether it be in Latin America or the occident. Rome was safer after Carthage was destroyed because there was nothing left of that city to threaten Rome. Moreover the ruthlessness involved in Carthage's destruction instilled great fear in Romes opponent's. i challenge you to produce a coherent argument based on facts rather than normative bias or pseudo politico-religious dogma that links any material disadvantage to Rome and it's destruction of Carthage. But you wont will you?

This ridiculous karmic notion that leftists seem to embrace that anything wrong that happens to a great society is somehow the wages of sin and a consequence of not following leftist dogma to the letter seems to me to be the most bizarre thing one could ever see a bunch of avowed atheists ever embracing. Yet here it is in it's full and perfect form - "karma karma karma!"

In reality very rarely are acts of political ruthlessness punished - the downfall of the Third Reich for example was an exception. Note the continued existence of Stalinist Russia and Maoist China despite these two political entities having higher body counts and many of the same sins as Hitler's. In fact Barroso the chief executive of the EU commission was a Maoist and now claims the moral authority of a democratic mandate despite never having faced an election in his life. So much for accountability.

The crux of my thesis is the universe will not punish people or nations for their sins - only other people will. The latter are often too cowardly or weak or infected with cultural relativism like yourself to even bother. Perhaps why you pick on soft targets like the US because you know they will absorb the criticism and not send secret agents from the other end of the globe to kidnap you like North Korea would. Again this fact will not stop you from pretending that the US actually does this kind of thing.

Of course the intrinsic problem with relying on people to punish the transgressions of others is that it is often hard to come to a consensus on what is moral or even what has occurred. Osama Bin Laden punished the US not for its violence but for refusing to follow his ridiculous orthopraxy. You on the other hand want to see the US diminished because it's wealth and prestige are somehow sinful.

People in the US should take your 'kind' words I think as fair payment for President Obama's funding of that offshore oil platform for Brazil's crony capitalist state run oil company:

A better mantra to describe the US circumstances viz you is: "He who sows wealth out of generosity should expect it to be ignored by Left wing gasbags."
