I'm surprised you mentioned China as a case of a state moving from tyranny to democracy. Mainland China is still a powerful one-party state where the organization of any opposition, no matter how responsible or patriotic, remains next to impossible. If you meant Taiwan, however, I agree. There are still plenty of bumps evident here.
