Is Norquist's religion relevant?

Reader comment on item: Is Grover Norquist an Islamist?

Submitted by Dan Juma (Japan), Jun 24, 2011 at 05:22

The man's personal religion is irrelevant, but his attitude to the United States is. Grover Norquist is an avowed enemy of the United States' Constitution. He wants to destroy our government. That his economic policies, designed to "starve the beast" (perhaps he thinks the US government is Dajjal?) are even now destroying America's ability to finance its government is what we should be concerned about, not whether he prays, fasts and gives zakat.

Daniel Pipes replies:

His religion is important insofar as it potentially sheds light on Norquist's support for Islamists. As I wrote, "if Grover Norquist is indeed a convert to Islam, it could be that he is not just enabling the Islamist causes but is himself an Islamist."
