Reader comment on item: Obama & American Muslims: How Different?

Submitted by Ghulam Muhammed, Mumbai (India), Apr 20, 2010 at 10:11

NY Times was right then and right now too. Bush did symbolic gestures just as Obama too is indulging in symbolism. Only difference is that while Bush had been guilty of some wildly anti-Muslim actions ( which possibly escaped Dr. Pipes attention.) including openly declaring crusade, Obama though has been essentially following same old Bush policies in Iraq and Afghanistan, Muslim world can make out, that the sting is gone. Obama is ready to wrap out.

NY Time sis correct to note that Obama's Muslim gestures has more credibility with the Muslim World than that of Bush. He has refrained from any direct attack on the supposedly collective guilt of the world's 1.5 billion Muslims for 9/11 and other terror attacks, wrongly or rightly attributed to a minuscule minority of Muslims, if at all. Time and again western and Israeli agencies are found to be planting their proxies in adversarial groups and using them to demonize Muslims. The culpability of Western agencies is now become common knowledge around the world. Still Muslim world is waiting to see how Obama tackles Iran before accept Obama as Muslim friendly.
