Reader comment on item: Glamorous Muslim Political Women

Submitted by Fay Voshell (United States), Aug 28, 2009 at 12:38

Daniel,

I really have to kid you on this one, and I hope you don't take offense.

I'm no prude, but honestly, this is pretty close to having a Muslim women Playboy issue on your site. Really, would you post a similar piece on "Well Dressed Hunks of the Arab World?"

The only thing this piece tells us is that you like beautiful women. Nothing wrong with that in its place, which place is probably not here on your blog.

I would much rather you do a take on Muslim women who are standing up for human rights--Hirsi Ali comes to mind. There are others, of course.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Happy to do a "hunks" piece but (1) they need to be scantily and non-Islamically dressed and (2) I'll ask you to do the research.

No, this blog does not just indicate my appreciation of beautiful women: it makes an important political point, just as my parallel blog on the (ugly) women in hijabs makes a point.
