Time and Time Again

At the end of the 1948 war, an Arab diplomat, licking his wounds, said that they have a secret weapon, "Time." It's been 61 years since that ominous remark and in the eyes of Arabs Israel's time is almost up----the Arabs can sense victory is at hand.

In those 61 years the Arabs have strengthened their forces and created proxy entities to nip at Israel. Now we have Iran close to producing a nuclear weapon, but more importantly for the Arabs is an American president whom, while not a 100% Arabist, is certainly not 100% pro-Israel. While it is politically correct to be even handed these days, an even handed approach to the Israeli-Palestinian just means more concessions ahead for Israel and eventually becoming an enclave behind the 67 borders where Hezbollah and Hamas can conduct a war of attrition with a new Palestinian state arming for the future.

As for Iran and its nuclear ambitions----it's a good thing they're not Arabs. And as for Israel taking action against Iran's ambition----fuhgeddaboutit----it's a different situation than in 1981----Iraq could not retaliate, Iran can, but then again maybe its time for a major war in the ME. A long time ago someone said, if you want peace prepare for war. This has a double meaning. Talk peace, but carry a big stick or Use the stick and just vanquish the enemy. Which will it be?
