Dazed and confused

Reader comment on item: Reflections on Obama's Inauguration

Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jan 20, 2009 at 10:54

I, too, am "dazed" that this inauguration has taken place. It is almost like a macabre fairy-tale, but unfortunately it is real. Not only is Obama an unknown quantity, but his policies seem to be driven by what is popular or expected of him, and he is trying to please everyone---not a good omen for the president of the most important country in the world.

His rock-star status is ridiculous, the fawning over him and his family is nauseating, and he has also played the race card in his own way, his Caucasian heritage disappearing altogether. I fear for this country---when all the scales fall off on January 21st, reality will set in.
