Bush got it right?

"If President Bush got it right the first few months after 9/11, what happened after that?"

Bush got it right? Then it must have been a bad dream. I clearly remember having seen him in front of tv cameras, declaring "Islam is a religion of peace", soon after 9/11. Or did I hear wrong?
