Equal Opportunity?

Reader comment on item: The Islamic Society of Boston & the Politicians' Red Faces

Submitted by Molly (United States), Jul 28, 2008 at 07:50

So might I assume that, if the mural were of Our Lady of Perpetual Help or the First Church of Roxbury that you'd be posting the same complaints, and might I further assume that you'll be petitioning the T to remove all photos of and references to Trinity Church, Old North Church, Old South Church, the Christian Science Plaza and any other religious institutions depicted on its property?

Daniel Pipes replies:

You missed the key sentnce in my report: "the Boston public transportation system does not sport crosses, stars of David, or other religious insignia." If the system commonly showed religious inisgnia or buildings, I would not have a problem with the mosque, but it does not. And that is the point.
