What is the solution?

Reader comment on item: Can Infidels be Innocents?

Submitted by Susan Browne (United States), Apr 10, 2008 at 13:49

Very interesting!

How much we want to believe there are reasonable Muslims out there ... somewhere! Are there?

How do we contend with people who hate us? How do you counter irrational fanatism? Does it get marginalized as it gets crazier and crazier and sane people peel off? (Nazism didn't... it just sucked in all the "sane" people.)

The KKK didn't stop their irrational violence until the law forced them to - and only then did hearts and minds began to follow. Do we have any choice but to enforce international rule of law, by whatever power necessary - especially with the potential threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of these people.
