"Hate crimes" against the Muslims

Reader comment on item: [Fake] "Islamophobic Prejudice" and CAIR

Submitted by l. Davis (United States), Nov 6, 2007 at 10:08

I am opposed to 'hate crimes' ..... it is a dangerous thing when a society tries to determine what people are thinking when they commit a crime.

Having said that, and after seeing the examples of fraud in supposed cases against minorities in the US, I can't help but wonder if, since hate crimes exist on some level, why not prosecute these frauds as 'hate crimes" .. After all the crimes are done with race in mind .... pretending it was done by 'whites'. It could increase the sentence by a great deal I would think. Wonder what CAIR would think of that
