Are you a neoconservative?

Of course, you're right -- if you're applying normal reasoning to the question. By those standards, maybe you aren't a neocon.

But for Time and Newsweek -- and of this, I'm pretty sure you're aware -- neoconservative is simply a term of derision, with a list of qualifications much less refined than those you've applied. For them, it's enough that:

1. you supported the Iraq war
2. you unambiguously oppose Jihadist terror (and maybe worse, Jihadism in more "peaceful forms too!)
3. you support Israel's right to peaceful existence

That makes you -- boo! -- a neoconservative.

If anything, you're worse, but it appears they can't come up with a term that's any more pejorative. For that, you might have to be an Evangelical Christian.

A lot of us like you anyway.
