Reader comment on item: Are Christians Infidels (Kafirs)?

Submitted by jennifer solis (United States), Aug 24, 2007 at 16:20

Historical languages ............thank God for Daniel Pipes. "Are Christians infidels (Kafirs)?"

In this article Mr. Pipes artfully illustrates what so many Muslims today use to pull the wool over the average American's eyes. A combination of "hope springs eternal" and cowardice on the part of Americans is what makes them so susceptible to "moderate" Muslim propaganda, ie., 1. "the Muslim religion is a peacefull religion" 2." for a Muslim to commit suicide is against Islamic Law" 3. "We're all (Christians, Jews, Muslims) decendants of Abraham". 1. The Qu'ran states "kill the infidel (kuffar) wherever you find him".

2. The Qu'ran states that if a Muslim kills a Christian or Jew in the process of killing himself, he'll go strait to Paradise where 72 virgins await him.

3. The Qu'ran states that Abraham had a child with Hagar (a princess). The childs name was Ishmael. The Christian Bible states that Abraham had a child with Hagar (a slavegirl); the child's name was Ishmael and God told Abraham to kick both Hagar and Ishmael out; Ishmael according to the Christian Bible was born a bastard and went on to father Arabic aristocracy.

The Qu'ran also instructs Muslims to lie, as it puts their "enemy" at a disadvantage.

Mr. Pipes' conclusion that the muslim world cannot modernize untill it deals with historical realities is right on the money. However, how can there be hope of such when the very texbook the Muslim world studies from contains such straitforward condemnation of infidels? Yes, Muslims today say parts of the Qu'ran are no longer applicable. However, the fact that those parts are in the Qu'ran for any Muslim to adopt speaks volumes. For the sake of argument, The Great Shatan's (according to radical Muslims the Christian nation of America) textbook, The Bible: nowhere does it command a Christian to lie. Nowhere does it promise Christians eternal life through killing people. Nowhere does it instruct Christians to kill solely on the basis of a person's decision to not adopt your faith. Objectivity, anyone? -JS
