Reader comment on item: Is Middle East Studies a Safe-haven for Terrorists?

Submitted by Farzana Shahid (Canada), Mar 21, 2003 at 13:24

Dr. Pipes.
The belief system and values of Islam and Judaism are almost identical. Judaism sees war as just at times and Hebrew scriptures discriminate against women. The Qur'an on the other hand gave women many rights. .. . The Qur'an merely echoes what the Jewish scriptures say.

You can maintain your support for Israel without having to resort to exclusive criticism of Islamism.. . I, as a Muslim believe that the Jewish people have been persecuted too long throughout history and deserve their own homeland. I also feel that Muslim extremists ought to show more generosity in this matter and recognise Israel's right to exist in peace and dignity with its neighbors. This current Israeli govrnement, on the other hand must also renounce its brutal policies. We are all brethren and descendents of one patriarch. This is only a family feud which I hope will be resolved peacefully without any further bloodshed on either side.
