we will all now be correct in our hindsight about the iraq failure. Our shortsightedness has blinded american foreign policy, not just in the middle east, but through se asia and the emerging alliance with muslim terrorists south of our border. please remember it was the republican president who allowed us to be beaten in lebanon, somalia, afghanistan. clinton sheepishly picked up the pieces and fell, like "W", to the forces of whimsy, intolerance, arrogance, power, and, that good ole american value: greed.
let us hope the democrats somehow recognize that western democracy is now threatened like no time since the nazis and communists. i do not know about you, Dr. Pipes, but the american people are in peril, more from within. the caliphate will receive assistance from the most unlikely ally: the american far right, religious freedom fighters. such is the banality of the holy q'uaran. the enemy of my enemy is my friend never sounded so appropriate. it will be very easy to domestically focus attention upon the minority everyone hates for this debacle. and, they could take it all the way back to the jungle war. and, ronnie reagan returned us to glory by battering 80 cubans on grenada and sending oliver north to the congress. now north is a super hero far right wing patriot with a public voice. . pretty amazin'.
and, all of this to maintain the bush fortune and marriage to the saudi'princes, including their loyal foil, usama bin laden and family. we hedged our bet that this iconoclastic bogey-man would keep the faithful patriotically stirred while we hide him out in some expensive resort. just think folks, the same technology pursuing the charismatic, romanticized "islamic" fanatics is now used to track sex predators. go figure.
so, how will we extricate ourselves from this disaster. there really is nothing in the lexicon to describe what we have done to ourselves. we won the cold war. right. is that the russians i here a comin'. or, the iranians.
stay tuned.
