Islamism?

Reader comment on item: Islam, Islamism, and Western Policy

Submitted by Malcolm Smith (Australia), Apr 30, 2020 at 17:47

The reason Christianity is the world's largest religion is that Christians have taken seriously what they call the Great Commission: "Go forth and make disciples of all nations". Would you call this "Christianism"? It is simple, orthodox Christianity. Anybody who reads the New Testament will come to that doctrine. Groups that don't accept it soon peter out.

Need I say more? The reason Islam is the world's second largest religion is that Muslims take seriously their prophet's command to go forth and conquer the world in the name of Islam. Jihad is fundamental to Islam. To label it "Islamism" is to simply make a distinction between those Muslims who take their religion seriously, and those who just coast along.
