Reader comment on item: Trump, Iran, and a Fast-Changing Middle East

Submitted by Barry Black (United States), Nov 15, 2017 at 09:58

As my grandmother would say regarding life and history, "Too lates we gets too schmart". And this quote certainly applies in today's world. The first mistake was the invasion of Iraq by Bush II for reasons we'll probably never know for sure (Saddam Hussein was already contained). The second mistake was the disbanding of the Iraqi Military and Baath (Renaissance) Party creating a cadre of seasoned personnel to join any resistance which eventually morphed into Daesh!

The third mistake was opening an opportunity for Russia to enter Syria followed by Iranian operatives. Now we have a Mexican stand-off! As the world becomes embroiled with acts of terrorism it itself morphs into an enterprise. That old acronym certainly applies today "SNAFU"!
