Response to Octavio JohansonReader comment on item: American Border Secrets Submitted by Yldaed Suriv (United States), Apr 28, 2005 at 19:04 This is yet another great article by Dr. Pipes, but I disagree with the comments from one Octavio Johanson. America is a great country in no small part due to the brilliant minds it has absorbed from all over the world due to immigration over the past century. Islamists need to be stopped at all costs, yes, but there is no merit to restricting all immigration. If the presence of Islamists in Saudi Arabia leads to the denial of a student visa to a young and eager student from China then you can say that the terrorists have won a quarter of the battle. In the long run this is just what the terrorists want - the weakening of the bonds that the US has with the non-Islamic world.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
