Repeating the Obvious

Reader comment on item: Debating the Morality of Israel & Hamas in Battle

Submitted by Michael S (United States), Jul 13, 2014 at 14:53

Pardon my having to post a second time. In my first post, I was responding to the comments of the crazy woman and the skewinator (as opposed to "moderator"). Since the topic at hand is morality, Yes, Daniel, you very patiently and consistently put forth the simple, obvious solution for ending the bloodshed: that the Arabs should stop shooting if they want a "ceasefire". Even then, thought, I would argue that Israel is obliged, under the Oslo Accords, to destroy all the rockets in Hamas-held territory. As the accords say,

"CHAPTER 2 ARTICLE XIV 4. Except for the arms, ammunition and equipment of
the Palestinian Police described in Annex I, and those of the Israeli
military forces, no organization, group or individual in the West Bank and
the Gaza Strip shall manufacture, sell, acquire, possess, import or
otherwise introduce into the West Bank or the Gaza Strip any firearms,
ammunition, weapons, explosives, gunpowder or any related equipment, unless
otherwise provided for in Annex I.

"And here is the Annex - rockets are not in the list.."

The title of the article I quoted from, by the way, is

"Message to Mr. Kerry: Recognize existing agreements before promoting new one"

Now is the time for all sane men to repeat the obvious. Kudos on your patience, Daniel.

Shalom shalom :-)
