Misplaced optimism and liberal Turkey

An opposition leader noted that five districts of Istanbul "look like Afghanistan," but these are the exception.

Well it is the exception until it becomes the rule! I'm sure the occasional hijab wearing women in 1960s Egypt and Iran were also considered unusual but we all saw what transpired later on , in Egypt by social and demographic changes and Iran by revolution.

It would be a shame to see gorgeous and shapely Turkish women get covered up!
