Law enforcement problem

Reader comment on item: Germany's Freiheit Party Joins the Fray
in response to reader comment: Allowing the Islamists to impose

A similar problem exists in some parts of Israel, where ultra-Orthodox Jews attempt to physically compel women to dress according to their requirements, i.e. those of the ultra-Orthodox. It's a law enforcement problem; the police for whateve reason (fear, politics) do not do their jobs. When that happens, it becomes the duty of men to protect women when women can't protect themselves. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Praise God, we in America don't have that problem, at least not in New York and not yet.
