Britain or Europe as arbiter of other legal systems
Reader comment on item: Asylum Granted to Escape Shari‘a

There is a lot wrong with Shari'a, including the automatic granting of custody to fathers without regard to the well-being of the child or children. But members of the fathers' rights movement in the West would say, with varying degrees of veracity, that just the opposite obtains here. Could an American father, having lost custody or fearing losing it, expect the same treatment by a British court? I'm all for secular legal systems, and I look forward to leveling Mount Shari'a, but this path down seems to be on a slippery slope.
