It is because they believe so hard

It becomes a habit. Not for all, of course. But only a precious few are able to base their most profound convictions on beliefs and think straight otherwise. If, on the top of it, the central beliefs are leading to put inadequate people in power, as is clearly the case in Islam, well, you get the ME.
