"Fewer Pandering Statements?" No way!

Reader comment on item: The United States Government, Still the Patron of Islam

Submitted by So-called American (United States), Feb 12, 2007 at 01:12

Daniel Pipes said since his first article on this subject, "there have been few such pandering statements, but they have not disappeared entirely." What? This is a 24/7 job with the government. Below is a partial list of official "texts" about Islam, including 121 made by Bush in 2002. Note the subjects of most of them are "out-reach" programs and "sensitivity training to educate stupid Americans."

Almost immediately after the attacks the President took steps to protect Muslim-Americans from hate crimes. The President also held a series of events, including hosting the first-ever White House Iftar and an Eid event at the end of Ramadan; the President visited the Islamic Center; and the President created the "Friendship Through Education" initiative to bring American and Muslim children closer together.

[There were 155 hate crime incidents listed as anti-Islamic last year (2002), down sharply from the 481 reported in 2001. There were 931 anti-Jewish incidents in 2002, slightly below the number in 2001. These statistics are ignored by the President. Also ignored is that in 2001, Muslim hate crimes resulted in the deaths of more than 3,000 Americans on a single day. This statistic is easy to ignore if you replace the word "Muslims" with "evil-doers" or "bad men" or "poopie-heads." (This is not to belittle the serious nature of Islamic hate crimes reported to the FBI.)]

I hate this! Americans (or as the gov't calls us "taxpayers") are an object of scorn to the government. They think of us as just filler taking up space between Canada and Mexico.
