Reader comment on item: Jihad Awakens Europe
in response to reader comment: Western Europe was always soft. It's a pattern of behavior going back to 1933.

I'd just add to this excellent article that the way the United States could come to Europe's rescue for the 5th time (in WW I [though semi-aborted w/rejection of the League of Nations], in WW II, in the Marshall Plan, and in the 40 yr Cold War - 3 out of 4 decisive victories is pretty impressive ) would be to send in the INTELLECTUAL cavalry.

In other words the United States could support and sponsor speakers whose goal is to definitively break the mental and verbal taboo against discussing, and then concluding, that Islam itself is the real enemy. Once this strange threshold hurdle is broken down, then I predict all sorts of ideas and initiatives will come forward which will make it clear to the anti-assimilationist Muslim communities (which are the sea in which the piranha terrorists live), that they should either recant those beliefs and actions of hatred and intolerance, or go to those Muslims countries where Islamic hatred and intolerance is embedded in the legal system and social customs. Encourage them to embrace what they want, only not in Europe (or the United States)

The rapidly growing anti-assimilationist Muslim communities of Europe must be told that they cannot be 'asylum seekers' while at the same time bringing with them, in their hearts and minds, the belief system which caused them to become asylum seekers in the first place.
The best 'pool' from which such US-sponsored speakers could come is those ex-Muslims who have had the courage to forswear, often with powerfully articulated ideas, the belief system which it was their misfortune to be born into, or to which they misguidedly converted, eventually to have 'eureka' moments in which they had the courage to admit their mistake

.
The second best 'pool' (or perhaps first best) would be those in the US who were educated in such sentiments as the opening sentences of the Declaration of Independence, the first line of the Gettysburg Address, the Four Freedoms of FDR, and many other key documents of American history, and who actually took to heart the meaning of those phrases and sentiments. Which means they have a spontaneous awareness that all the core tenets of Islam are completely incompatible with those beliefs, and that it is politically irresponsible NOT to discuss, proclaim, and spell out that incompatibility.

How strange it is that that spontaneous awareness hasn't long since been awakened in millions of hearts and minds. But I believe it's right there waiting to be tapped, and once wakened from a long torpor, will become a flood of rhetoric and feeling (or so I hope).
