Has Iran Gained a Foothold

Reader comment on item: Has Iran Gained a Foothold in the Arabian Peninsula?

I had an amusing thought as I mulled this over and looked at the map. Obama has a history of using people and dumping them when they are of no further use or when they begin to present a problem to him. He has done this for years. The most prominent in my memory was the outrageous Reverend Wright. Now a man with as big an ego as Obama would not bow as deeply and dramatically as he did to the King of Saudi Arabia if he were not beholden to the man in some deep way, perhaps some meaningful financial aid for the campaign in the first election.

Now when you cross a relatively powerless man as the mad Rev. Wright, you are not endangering your future or your life, but when you do that to an Arab king; oh-oh. Obama's security people can't be that wonderful - they were out to lunch when Obama spoke at Mandela's funeral and the character no one knew stood next to Obama making phony sign language. Hang on to your seats folks; we may be in for some drama this year.
