It is depressing but there is hope

Dear Dr Pipes:

Your reader Geoff made some very astute observations. His observation that Islam represents "something nice" on the surface is right on the dot. The attention that Islamists are getting around the world is depressing. No one can criticize any of Islamist's practices. Whereever they live, they have either occupied 100% of the land or asking for more. Symmetry in mutual conduct is something that they do not understand. Hypocrisy is the name of their game. Not one of one billion of them is willing to make peace with handful of Jews and Israel. The list can go on and on.

Geoff is also right when he says that Islam benefits from our modern values because it is designated as a religion while under the religious umbrella hides an imperialistic political philosophy.

But there is hope. A system that controls every aspect of your being, cannot exist in its current form for too long. In this age of communication and mass media, no one can avoid an interview with the reality for too long. If it were not for the petro dollars, most of the Islamic world would have been like what Somalia and Pakistan are today and there would have been nothing to finance the terrorism. Even with petro-dollars, the burden of reality will reach Islam soon.

Geoff is probably incorrect when he recommends heavy-handed methods for Islam. Violence cannot work. Opposing what seems wrong at every stage possible is what is going to work. Assertive opposition to draconian values is what is going to work.
