That is often true in the case of the extreme left, which shares Islamists' hatred of Western civilisation. But there are also frequent unholy alliances between Islamists and Christian conservatives on issues such as gay rights and quelling anti-religious freedom of speech (e.g. the Mohammed cartoon affair).
