Dear Dr. Pipes,
With ref. to the above, my comments are as follows:
1) Dr. Pipes' prescription: Militant Islam is the problem
Moderate Islam is the solution
My prescription:a) Islamic Scriptures to be opened without let/hindrance/threat to life for rational/critical examination and its relevance to 21st century.
b) Widespread education of Muslims enabling them to distinguish between wrong and right..
2) I agree with your view that a sort of Brezhnevism is prevailng in Iran now. The way the youth threw away the Shah and installed the Ayatollah in 1979, similarly, I hope, that the present day restive youth will throw out the Clerics and bring in democracy.
