When I first started to read Daniel Pipe's columns a few years ago, I was impressed at how balanced his writing about the Middle East was. However, as time progressed, I became more and more jaded concerning the intentions if Islam, and Muslims in general. I'm glad to see that over the past year or so Mr. Pipe's has also changed. He has apparently had the epiphany that we are in a serious war with Islam and, as far as Muslims in general are concerned, we don't know who our friends are because they have not yet revealed themselves. Until they reveal and prove themselves, we have to suspect that many, if not most, are our enemies. The biggest problem we have, as regards the fight against terrorism, is the attitude of the liberals. They cannot be so dumb as to not understand the situation. Therefore, the only conclusion that I can draw is that the liberals and, more specifically, the Democratic Party, are using the war on terrorism as a wedge to divide the public so they can beat the Republcans and regain the Whitehouse. In other words, they are throwing us all to the wolves for the sake of regaining political prominence and power. They are sacrificing America for the good of the party! I think it 's time for Mr. Pipes to start hammering away at that point.
