Ezekiel 38-39 gun is loaded and cocked

Russia is not explicitly mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39, and "Meshech" was a country in Asia Minor in Ezekiel's time. The text reads,

Ezek 38:
[2] Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

Ezek 39:
[1] Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

Meshech and Tubal are shown to be subject or tributary states of Gog, and Gog was the chief state in Asia Minor. Today, I don't anyone would consider Russia to be a tributary or subject state of Turkey; moreover, Russia is an ally of Bashar al-Assad of Syria, an enemy of Turkey.

The great obstacle to the fulfilling of Ezekiel 38-39 right now, is the enmity between Turkey and Iran. The prophecy has Iran as a junior partner of Turkey in the invasion of Isael. Right now, Iran and Turkey are backing opposite horses: Iran, alongside Russia, is supporting Assad with men and materiel. Turkey, on the other hand, is a mortal enemy of the Syrian Kurds, who are relatively cozy with Assad. On paper, both Turkey and Iran are against ISIL, though to date Turkey has been the main supporting state of ISIL.

There are certainly forces at play, not the least of which are Obama and Putin, who would like everyone to be part of one happy family against ISIL. When that happens, you will have your coalition -- complete with Russians, represednting Meshech, "Rosh" or anyone you please. Libya is also presumably at war with ISIL, as is the recoginzed Libyan government in Tobruk; and Sudan will fight on the side of anyone who gives Omar Bashir money and immunity, so, voila! The Ezekiel 38-39 coalition. Of course, it will supposedly be directed against ISIL, not Israel; but that presents no problem at all: After all, Turkey is presently attacking the Kurds in the name of "fighting terrorists, presumably ISIL"; so there is nothing to stop Erdogan from leading a charge against Israel in the name of "fighting terrorists, presumably ISIL".

I don't think the Russians want to play a prominent part in an attack on Israel; and I'm reasonably sure that this sort of thing was discussed between Putin and Netanyahu the other day. The gun's already loaded and cocked, though; the whole thing could erupt at any time -- probably on only a few days' notice.
