Reader comment on item: Obama's Hollow Promises Abroad

In 1973 and then again in 1979, the Free World enabled Muslim lunatics by transferring wealth to them when OPEC began. We sacrificed ourselves when their economic power increased in ways that fostered bad acting politically on a global scale. W was wrong, we didn't fight them there so we wouldn't fight them here -- they are here (just look at Major Nidal's story at Ft Hood).

We actually did not fight them there in any effective way. Our military died and were maimed physically and mentally without any effect if one looks clearly at the result. For one of the very few times, peacetime military leaders were not replaced with a wartime mentality (kill the enemy is the idea, don't send our troops into an unsafe roadway) This sad state was predictable.

Our mentality changed from winning to the niceties of unthinking wishing and wondering. The USA was attacked at Pearl Harbor. When we could, we destroyed the enemy's will to resist by our use of military might. Where is President Truman when we needed him? Yes, Mecca's Ka'aba is the enemy's symbol of power, the enemy that attacked ours (The Twin Towers and the Pentagon, with one deflected on the way to DC).
