Noor, I have in fact read the Koran -- not all of it, but the parts that are of most interest to me. I agree that there is nothing in the text that says a father should kill his daughter, and plenty of things that suggest he should not. However, a teenage daughter who is showing signs of throwing off her religion is one who is in danger of becoming an apostate. And a Muslim man/husband/father is responsible for his family's observance of the faith.
What greater shame could a devout Muslim father feel than his community knowing he raised an apostate. And the Islamic law does have somethng to say about killing apostates, even when they are members of your family. My question remains; if you want to live as if you are in Karachi or Jeddah or wherever, why would you bring your family to Toronto, or Houston, etc.?
