You describe two sides of the same coin

Reader comment on item: How Terrorism Obstructs Radical Islam

But isn't "radical" or "moderate" Islam simply opposite sides of the same coin?
They both have identical ultimate goals do they not?

While what you write Mr. Pipes is eminently true, I still believe that ... Islam is organized to ENFORCE SUBMISSION upon any people they can. There appears to be nothing in the text of their scripture that will protect anyone from their rule. I am saddened, frightened and somewhat disappointed by your more recent apparent acceptance of this dangerous religion. I have heard you say often that moderate Islam is the solution, but we have to ask, is there such a thing as moderate Islam? I have managed to read translations of the Koran, I found it has no context, no larger narrative, it was repetitive, disjointed. ...
The Koran's / Islam's rules and laws may be fine for a tribal ...survival, but as a valuable collection of philosophical wisdom? ...

I also have studied some more of the Tabari [?] and the other accounts of Muhammad's life, and found that is where the Jihadist's justify their stance, receive their purposes, and set their goals. They want to be like the romantic accounts of Muhammad! But didn't he pillage,... harass, overthrow, threaten and oppress hundreds of innocent men, women and children... ? and is it not true that that was Islam's manner of success and growth? Living off the values produced by others but taken away by them? This whole concept of SUBMIT (ISLAM) are part and parcel of simply being assaulted... is it not? ... Only they were smart enough to invoke the concept of "GOD" or "ALLAH" to remove their need for personal responsibility, "you do not submit to ME, no, you submit to ALLAH!" (and while you are supine, I take what I need)

I really enjoy your writings and product Mr. Pipes, but think it it is time to wake up to a horrible truth.

I believe I have.
