moderate chemical weapons there are none

Reader comment on item: "U.S. Fears Syria Rebel Victory, for Now"

Submitted by myth (Germany), Apr 18, 2013 at 03:19

The West initially painted a picture of blossoming flowers during the Arab Spring. Verbal whitewashing of islamists to emerge as democratic revolutionaries in Syria requires bleach rather than words. The chemical weapons of Syria would stay stubbornly inert to such optimism, whatever the outcome.

Maybe the paradox characterization "moderate rebels" makes sense to the US government. But moderate chemical weapons there are none.

This fact provides direction to identify the original US interest in Syria. The chemical weapons relate the civil war in Syria to the safety of Western populations tomorrow rather than the demise of ordinary Syrians today.
