Bravo

For those who used to watch cartoons in the afternoons, like most American males, you'll understand this.

G.I. Joe never searched out and destroyed C.O.B.R.A. They used to sit back and wait for Destro to come up with some diabolical plan, and then react to it.

Frustrating.

Why they never searched out the enemy and made sure they'd never be a threat again used to get my goat.

Now I'm finding out why they used this approach ; Americans are irreversably determined to support the underdog, even if the underdog is evil. They will not tolerate sniffing out evil because of one simple reason :

A lack of trust.

If we employ a group to find evil where it exists, we are accused of "Gestapo like tactics" or "entrapment" or " bullying". Or in the case of the Iraqi war, " What are we doing here, anyway?"

We have short memories and a resove to match.
