As horrible as this incident is, it shows too that the US’s war against terror is on track. Terrorists’ targets are getting softer and distant. It is even as if Bin Laden was bombing his own back yard. One cannot talk of good news, but it is one nevertheless. And maybe Wahhabism will have less appeal to people if its doctrine of hatred is applied closer to its schools? Saudis are no Afghanis: there are wealthy and educated. They won’t like terrorism if they get a real taste of it. And they soon will point at the link between it and Wahhabism with some anger. If, in the same time, King Fahd supports some shift towards more democracy, he could be successful.
