Then why....?Reader comment on item: War as Social Work? Submitted by Barbara Runkel (Germany), May 7, 2003 at 05:42 Then why isn't it called "American Security" instead of "Iraqi Freedom"? Apparently "social work" is a valid selling point, otherwise the US government wouldn't have continually hinted at the perks for the Iraqi citizens that this war would bring.The paradox was clear, though, as many people here in Germany have said, "Why knock everything down just to build it up again?" in response to the comparison to the rebuilding of Germany after WWII.
