What's most interesting about Shawamra's rantings is the lack of rational content in his post. Those of us in Israel who love this country are doing our best to save it. People who have run off to places like Canada have given up their right to have any real say in what goes on here. I would have more respect for Shawamra if he came home and fought for his beliefs in the rough and tumble of Israeli politics than hide out abroad. He should remember that it wasn't so long ago that 'Christian' countries like Canada treated all non-Christians as second class citizens. Some 'Christian' countries slaughtered us like dogs. Germany, Poland, Russia come to mind. If truth be told, most Canadians would rather Shawamra went back to where he came from. Come home - we need you here.

Many of my colleagues are Mizrachi and Sephardi Jews and are among the most active in reaching out to our Palestinian neighbors in search for solutions. However due to the historic discrimination against non-white Jews in Israel not too many of these people have risen to positions of leadership, hence the lack of recognition in the media.
