To: Fred Schlomka, Incredible. "You just can't make it up!"Reader comment on item: My Testimony before the House Subcommittee on Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations Submitted by mariana (United States), Mar 19, 2007 at 20:41 I'm not as polite as Linda Moore. Not only do I not believe you're Israeli, I cannot see how anyone living in a country attacked by the same people again and again, to the point where they were forced to fight 5 wars, can be faulted for insisting on "recognition"of Israel and defensible borders. Do you live in a bubble, Mr. Fred? As for "annexing," you will apparently get your wish, thanks to the incompetent, inept, feckless Kadima. Olmert and Peres just can't give away the ground under the W.Bank settlements and E.Jerusalem, fast enough. Peres, after 50 years of misdirecting Israeli Foreign policy, is about to deliver his coup de grace to Israel; a week or so ago, he announced that action on his fine withdrawal plan was imminent. A backward glance to Kadima's sterling performance in S. Lebanon last summer [after Labor withdrew, unilaterally, with "no strings attached"], and the wonderful results turning Gaza over to the Pals produced, I'm sure what will really make Israel safe and secure is to give away the Golan Heights and more of the W. Bank, so the frontiers are closer and there's absolutely no possibility for self defense. Be sure to stop building and tear down "the wall" because, we just can't tolerate any place where the animals can't cross the border with alacrity. Perhaps you're nostalgic for more "successful" school bus and pizza parlor "suicide bombs." I'm truly sorry, Mr. Fred, but people like you exhaust me. Facts, history, logic, and reason do not touch you; just a "politically correct" view of Utopia that's based on the fantasy that the "enemy" will act rationally, civilly, humanly, and according to the version of the Marquis of Queensbury Rules that you have somewhere in the back of your heads - notwithstanding all evidence to the contrary. Keep denying that Israel's enemies are duplicitous and implacable; that polls showing that 87% of Pals do not want a "solution" producing "2 states, living side by side in peace." Don't pay any attention to AhmediNejad or Iran's arming of Hizbullah and Hamas with wonderfully new and more accurately aimed, long range missiles and tons of other arms; that Syria has been amassing troops to the border area while permitting the transshipment of arms from Iran; that Egypt is, while ignoring smuggling of arms and lunatics into Israel, slowly but surely, withdrawing from the "cold Peace" and trying to find a justification for withdrawing from the treaty. Don't pay any attention to the secret agreement forged in Makkah [where hosting S.A, probably agreed to help finance the final putch]. Just sit there, take another toke, and chill out. This bad, paranoid trip will all be gone in the morning. mariana Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
