If that is justifiable, then the order of the Prophet for the killing of the Jews of Khaybar is more than justifiable, for their betrayal of the Prophet and their breaking of the peace treaty can absolutely not go unpunished.

Narrated By Anas: The Prophet offered the Fajr Prayer near Khaibar when it was still dark and then said, "Allahu-Akbar! Khaibar is destroyed, for whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight), then evil will be the morning for those who have been warned." Then the inhabitants of Khaibar came out running on the roads. The Prophet had their warriors killed, their offspring and woman taken as captives. Safiya was amongst the captives, She first came in the share of Dahya Alkali but later on she belonged to the Prophet. The Prophet made her manumission as her 'Mahr'. ...!!!! Because the word warriors show that those men being killed were FIGHTING AGAINST THE MUSLIMS. But when you just put the word "men", like Craig Winn, it seems like innocent people are being killed. HOW DECEPTIVE CAN A MAN GET?There are many possible meanings for this Hadith. I was kind of surprised when I read it at first. But we don't know the EXACT situation or what the Prophet truly meant. Maybe, maybe THOSE particular women and children were planning to fight against the Muslims with the enemy.

Maybe the Muslim army just could not have blown this chance to attack the enemy that they still had to attack them no matter at what cost in order to stop the risk of more blood shed (do a little bad for the greater good). I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THIS IS CORRECT but I am just guessing. Or the hadith is false. Because this is only ONE hadith and we have so many other authentic hadith where the Prophet clearly prohibited the killing of innocent women and children during time of war.Narrated By 'Abdullah : During some of the Ghazawat of the Prophet a woman was found killed. Allah's Apostle disapproved the killing of women and children. Narrated By Ibn 'Umar : During some of the Ghazawat of Allah's Apostle a woman was found killed, so Allah's Apostle forbade the killing of women and children.

THE PROPHET DIDN'T SAY that only MUSLIM WOMEN AND CHILDREN couldn't be killed during time of war (WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE, WHY WOULD THEY FIGHT THEIR OWN WOMEN AND CHILDREN).

IT IS OBVIOUSLY TALKING ABOUT WOMEN AND CHILDREN OF THE DISBELIEVERS

Even during the state of actual war, the Prophet (peace be upon him) gave very definite instructions on protecting the rights and lives of the innocent. Buradah (R) said: "Whenever the Prophet of Allah briefed one of his army commanders, he reminded him to fear Allah in his actions, Fight and do not exceed your limits, do not transgress and do not kill a child." (Muslim, Abu Dawood and At-Tirmidhi)

Umar (R) said: "During one of the Prophet's battles, I found a woman that had been killed. In response to this the Prophet prohibited the killing of women and children during war." (Bukhari, Muslim and others)

Similarly, Abu Bakr (R), the first Khalifa of Muslims, commanded Usama (R) with the following words of warning, before sending him off on a military expedition: "Do not deceive, do not dishonour a treaty, do not mutilate the dead; nor should you kill a child, an old man or a woman. Do not destroy palm trees nor burn them, neither are you to cut a fruitful tree, do not kill a lamb, a cow or a camel except for purposes of food. You will come across a people who have devoted themselves to the monasteries; leave them, and what they do." ......................

The Banu Mustaliq, a branch of Banu Khuza'a occupied the territory of Qadid on the Red Sea shore between Jeddah and Rabigh. In 527 C.E. news was brought to Madina that the Banu Mustaliq in alliance with some other tribes were gathering to make a raid on Madina. The policy of the Holy Prophet was that the Muslims should not lose the initiative in such cases, and should take such tribes by surprise. Another aspect of the policy was that action against individual tribes should be taken before they could effect an alliance.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: We reached Khaibar early in the morning and the inhabitants of Khaibar came out carrying their spades, and when they saw the Prophet they said, "Muhammad! By Allah! Muhammad and his army!" The Prophet said, "Allahu-Akbar! Khaibar is destroyed, for whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight) then evil will be the morning for those who have been warned." We then got the meat of donkeys (and intended to eat it), but an announcement was made by the announcer of the Prophet, "Allah and His Apostle forbid you to eat the meat of donkeys, as it is an impure thing."

He read this hadith before posting it, why didn't he put what is in the brackets? This is what the early commentators of this hadith and the early scholars and the people that knew Prophet Muhammad know what the Prophet meant when he said that.
