S.O.SReader comment on item: [Hasan Akbar and] Murder in the 101st Airborne Submitted by Bob Morrison (Honduras), Mar 26, 2003 at 07:06 LIfe is about choices. He did not have to be deployed, he could have refused,( and probably gotten away with it,) as his commander could have wisely chose not to have an enemy in camp. It's the same old 'stuff', being politically correct with someone who is black, Hispanic, female, or whatever is not the same as someone avowed to kill his fellow Americans because of religious zeal. I'm sick of hearing how the military is a cross section of our society. That only makes it just as ill. We want a military where everybody is "o.d"., first and above all else including gender, race, or religion. We have chosen to accept this type of incident by not charging our political representatives and courts with the responsibility we all believe in. We still have a few loudmouths running public opinion polls and elections. As for this soldier, I am serious when I say this...he should be tried and convicted. Get back to basics.
