The effect of foreign policy on radical IslamReader comment on item: Radical Islam vs. Civilization Submitted by Emmanuel P (United States), Feb 6, 2007 at 04:26 I agree fully with Dr. Pipes that there is no appeasing the ideology of radical Islam, and that foreign policy won't make a difference one way or another to those who are firmly in the radical islamist camp. However, I feel that policy can make a difference to those Muslims who haven't yet firmly committed. The war in Iraq has been a disaster in this regard, because I feel that it was a coup for the Islamists ideologically. The war was based on so much deception that to even the most apolitical Muslim it looks like an imperialistic adventure. I worry that to many Muslims on the fence, the war in Iraq has increased the attractriveness of Islamism.
