A state of contradictionReader comment on item: Israel's Domestic Enemy Submitted by HH (United States), Jan 31, 2007 at 15:00 At the heart of the problem is the concept of democracy. The attack on "liberals" is an affront on true democracy. Israel can't expel Israeli Muslims without betraying Jewish values and democracy. It doesn't take much imagination to envision the Christian right ala Mel Gibson running this country and deciding to expel American Jews from the US and Canada "back" to Israel. The quagmire in Israel or anywhere else in the world is that true democracy clashes with a religious state, whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim. Exacerbate the problem even further by having emboldened religious political leaderships that believe "we will prevail because G-d is on our side."Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
