Reader comment on item: Those Danish Cartoons and Me
in response to reader comment: stoning in Islam / the addiction to alegory and the problem of misunderstanding Jesus

Submitted by M (United States), Jan 27, 2007 at 23:26

Praying to God five times a day has nothing to do with whats being discussed. What's being discussed is the atrocities committed. Saying that Muslims pray five times a day doesn't say they don't commit atrocities. A serial killer can help an old lady across the street. He's still a serial killer. I'm not saying Muslims commit atrocities, I'm saying you're not even arguing against the idea.

Also, this is an ad homynem. You're attacking Christianity to make your point. Saying Muslims pray more than Christians also has the connotation of looking down on Christians. That only supports a negative image of Islam. There are a million ways to interpret the bible. Go ahead and pray five times a day. I will pray as often as I feel the need to. I will not be bound by some dogmatic rule that forces me to communicate with God. My relationship with God is a comfortable one of trust and understanding. My heart is always open to him. In that way, I pray to him every second of my life.

If Muslims are praying to God five times more often than Christians, perhaps it's because they're chopping off hands. I hope that insults you as much as I've been insulted.
