American Muslims-Perpetual Swing
Reader comment on item: American Muslims – Perpetual Swing Voters?

Submitted by S.Thiagarajan (India), Jan 11, 2007 at 00:19

Dear Dr.Pipes,

This is the precisely the tactics the muslim minority applies in all the democracies, including in India. They tend to bloc vote and extort concessions in return. They also exercise strategic voting to defeat a party, who are perceived to be against their interests. The two Indian national political parties, Congress and BJP, are brought to power or removed by this voting pattern. BJP, being the Hindu nationalist party, attempts to mobilise the majority community to vote en bloc and the Marxist-Mulla combine cries foul, in the name of secularism.

I suggest that you ask Arun Shourie, former editor and central minister, to share Indian experience to the West.

Thanking you,

S.Thiagarajan
