I am doing a research project on Cairo, and this article, even though it was written in '84, is very helpful. The broad range of problems that plagued the city and threatened general welfare during the oil boom gives me a picture of what Cairo was nearly 20 years ago. I need to find an article about Cairo as in-depth as this one, but written about 21st century Cairo.
