Reader comment on item: El Al, "Goy" Airline?
in response to reader comment: Don't listen to fundamentalists!!!!

Submitted by Yaakov Watkins (United States), Dec 30, 2006 at 21:35

Issac, thanks for the response.

I apologize for the vowels. My pronounciation is terrible at best and and a daily struggle. Sorry.

I hold that Judaismis a genetic and religious heritage. Obviously that subject is enormously complicated and not really suitable for discussion here. Nevertheless, it is important to understand that Judaism takes a holistic approach to understanding how the body and souls combine to be the human being.

You seem to divide Jews into observant and non-observant. I don't. Jewish law is incumbent on all of us whether we like it or not. One cannot avoid responsibility under law by denying the existence of the governing authority. As for the halacha on El Al's position, I suggest you read the Mishnah Brurah section 243 - 249 for a discussion of the issues involved. Again it is too complicated for a discussion here. As for the existence of G-d, I refer you to Psalms 92:7 for the official opinion of people who do not believe in G-d.

As for El Al security practices, you will find no bigger fan than me. While we are supposed to trust in Ha-Shem, we are not supposed to rely on miracles.

If you wish to continue this discussion privately, I give permission to the webmaster to release my email address to Issac
